Joel Becker

I am currently building quantitative models to support decision makers in AI and biosecurity as CEO of Qally's. (Current projects include forecasting AI capabilities gains due to post-training enhancements and estimating the burden of airborne disease.)

Before this, I worked at a stealth AI safety organization, various nascent civilizational resilience organizations that came out of a conference I organized, FTX Foundation, the Global Priorities Institute, Harvard University, and the Institute for Fiscal Studies. I was an economics graduate student at New York University and did my undergraduate degree at the University of Bristol.

I also regranted through Manifund, became the most profitable bettor on Manifold Markets, co-owned a statistics consultancy advising professional football teams, hosted a social media presence peaking at 300,000 followers, and was the inaugural chair of the UK's largest Young Labour constituency organisation. In spare time I enjoy a good sing-along, keeping physically (and financially!) healthy, and cultivating my digital garden.
